Career Coaching for the Individual:
A “Just-in-Time” Program

Writing about what you do makes what you do a whole lot clearer in your head.

So, what’s a Just-in-Time program?

Good question. Here is, hopefully, a reasonable answer: A Just-in-Time program focuses on what you need when you need it. For example – if you have a good resume that is working for you but you are not getting to the second round of interviews, you don’t need to waste your money on a resume.

Should you be looking at this service as an expense, don’t do it! If, however, you are interested in making an investment to either expedite your job search or advance your career, then it is up to both of us to define your specific development need(s), your expectations and your return.

Regarding the return on your investment, I will ask only three things of you:

Do what you say you are going to do

Come prepared for our meetings

Be willing to stretch your comfort zone

This program is designed to help you secure your ideal position as soon as possible. It’s about focus. It’s about substance. And it’s about results. The key is in the preparation. The value is in the coaching.

The late John Wooden, basketball coach at UCLA who won more NCAA titles than any coach to date, never talked about winning. He preached preparation.

A few “preparation” questions to consider:

  • What does your ideal job look like?

  • Is your next position another position?

  • If not, what is it?

  • What new skills or new perspectives do you need to acquire to support achievement of your goals?

  • What have you tried/thought of already?

  • What are the roadblocks do you expect or know about?

  • What are your key differentiators in the marketplace?

  • What is your value proposition?

  • What does your networking base look like?

  • What resources do you need?

  • What are you worth in today’s job market?

  • What is your plan to achieve the top end of the salary range?

  • What would you do if you knew you couldn’t fail?

  • Why should someone hire you?

With preparation comes knowledge. With knowledge comes confidence. With confidence comes the courage to extend your reach.
